In my 8th grade science class we weren't told what was happening. We knew something was up, because teachers kept popping into the classroom and whispering to our teacher, and students were getting called out to go home to their families. They had us go home early and only then did I see on my parent's television what had happened. It felt very unreal to me, but some of those kids who had been called out during class had parents who had died or been injured in the attack.
Today we remember 9/11 because it is one of the largest attacks on American soil in recent history. We also remember it because it was a time when many people came together to help and support those who needed it. It also led to hate and racism towards groups of people who had nothing to do with the terrorists who attacked, and that should be remembered to so we can avoid it after future disasters.
